Embark on a grand adventure with Dungeons & Dragons at the Sawyer Free Library! Create your character and venture on an epic quest with Dungeon Master Ephraim Weaver. All experience levels are welcome. Free pizza lunch will be provided. Space is limited. 5th-12th grade.
Join this Castle Hill education program and scavenger hunt to learn compass, map reading, and orienteering skills, and use these skills to solve challenges around the Castle Hill trails and grounds. Learn about the habitats, history, and culture of the estate while collecting clues to solve our explorer’s challenge! This program involves walking 1-2 miles over grass, gravel trails, and sand with moderate elevation gain.
Join The Trustees of Reservations to explore the world of our resident winter birds here at Crane—beyond the Snowy Owl! Bring your binoculars (or borrow ours!) and join us in searching the water for Loons, Long-Tail ducks, Eiders, Scoters, Mergansers, and more! In the trees and sky, we might spot birds of prey, including owls, hawks, falcons, and eagles, alongside hardy songbirds and woodpeckers. A variety of shorebirds round out the viewing possibilities!
The Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by Manchester Mothers’ Club and Manchester Community Center. This event is open to the entire community. Please join us for a festive morning of crafts, games, the egg hunt, and a visit with the Easter Bunny. Please wear rainboots and bring your basket for gathering eggs.
Celebrate the arrival of Spring with an egg hunt at North Shore Children's Museum, Peabody, Massachusetts. Come to the museum for a fun egg hunt with 15 exhibits, 600 eggs and lots of smiles! 12 of the eggs include museum admission. Adults are free.
March is a great month to look for owls. Both Great Horned and Barred owls will have babies in their nests, so these species tend to be vocal and active. Join us for a short hike through the woods at Camp Denison to look and listen for these majestic birds. We will also keep our ears open for howling coyotes and search Baldpate Pond for beavers!
Come explore what nature has in store at some of our most amazing wild places on the north shore with naturalists from the Joppa Flats Education Center. Our engaging and experienced staff will introduce families to local forests, beaches, and wetlands to make observations in nature, identify wildlife, and enjoy hands on science activities outdoors. Join us for a class on making Ukrainian Eggs! Presented by Kati Bourque, (Head of Technical Services here at the Hamilton-Wenham Library). This program is open to teens in grades 6 through 12. All supplies will be provided. The class is limited to 15 participants so registration is required. Wear your getting messy clothes!
Wide-open coastal sites are the location of choice for wintering Snowy Owls; common perches are dunes and salt hay staddles. In winters past, these owls have been frequent visitors to the Crane Wildlife Refuge.
