Pre-School

An active, fun, program where you and your child will learn about the seals that live at the mouth of the Merrimack River. We will learn about what they eat, how they capture their prey, how they care for their young, and how they survive cold waters of the North Atlantic. We will play some games, sing a song or two, make a fun take-home craft, and enjoy a tasty snack!

Experience the simple life of 19th-century New England as you dress in old-fashioned costumes and gather by the hearth in the museum’s 17th-century house.  Hear enchanting tales of long ago as we churn and taste homemade butter and sip children’s tea. Ages 5+

In every kind of weather, our favorite thing is to head outdoors to our spectacular local habitats! Join Joppa Flats Education Center on a nature exploration that will focus on the importance of a sense of place as we explore the ecology, sights, and sounds of our natural landscape. Wildlife, local and migrating birds, collecting techniques, and environmental awareness will be presented in a fun, energetic format that adults and children alike will enjoy.
