Imagine, Sing & Learn 2A: How Do I Keep Warm

Kids will learn about how animals keep warm during the Winter months at Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list in an electronic goody bag! This week we'll be focusing on how animals and other creatures keep warm in the wild.

Winter Games at Maudslay

Kids will explore Maudslay State Park with Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport!

Let the games begin! Beat the winter blahs with a high-energy scavenger hunt for footprints, nests, and burrows. Winter shelter building, animal tracking races, and adaptation demonstrations are part of the line-up for this active and educational romp through the park. We’ll cap it off with cookies and cocoa to celebrate our time together outdoors.. Meet at Maudslay State Park, Newburyport . $5 parking fee. Hosted by Joppa Flats Education Center. Please dress for the weather.

SFL: Storytime

You and your child are invited to a morning of playtime, stories, songs, bubbles, movement, and crafts.  Children have lots of fun and a its great way to introduce your child to other children his/her own age.  For children ages 2-4.  All are welcome!  No registration required.

Weekday Little Explorers: Groundhog Day Celebration

Groundhog Day is just a few days away, and we have planned a special walk. We will learn all about these true hibernators, and then we will head out to the fields in search of groundhog holes. Learn some songs and create a groundhog mask to take home.

Read "The Mitten" by Jan Brett and then take a hike to look for animal homes

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a wonderful program for preschoolers! These walks are offered as individual classes. Join us for one or more of these winter explorations. We'll read [amazon 039921920X inline] by Jan Brett and then take a hike to look for animal homes in the sanctuary. Using a very large mitten, we will recreate the story. As a group, we'll build a people shelter and see how warm we can make it.

Our school vacation programs offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities while we keep minds active and hands busy during school break with free-flow learning for the whole family. Each session offers a different theme, with scheduled family presentations and something to engage hearts and minds for all ages and interests.

The Heather Pierson Quartet will perform the entirety of the Charlie Brown Christmas album as recorded by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, as well as other well known and popular Christmas tunes.  Pierson is an award-winning pianist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, arranger, bandleader, and performer.  Her quartet also includes Joe Aliperti on alto and tenor sax, Shawn Nadeau on bass, and Matty Bowman on drums.
