Mother’s Day Weekend Crafting Workshop
Come to Appleton on the Saturday before Mother’s Day and make your own gifts for all the moms in your life. Or, bring mom with you and make them together! We’ll have a selection of local artisans teaching visitiors how to make a variety of crafts and you will get to take home one from each.
Mother's Day Brunch at Appleton Farms
Join The Trustees of Reservations as they host a Mother’s Day picnic brunch at Appleton Farms. Instead of our usual Fire Pit or Pizza Picnics, the day will feature a menu of items specially made in house in our own Farmstead Kitchen by our culinary team, menu to be announced soon.
Farmhouse Culinary Workshop: Focaccia
Is there anything better than good focaccia? In this workshop, participants will learn the necessary skills to mix, shape, proof and bake this classic Italian staple. We will discuss and explore a variety of seasonal toppings, including tips and tricks to get a fluffy focaccia that is also packed with flavor. The main secrets? Stoneground local flour and technique! Class will end with warm focaccia to share and dough to take home.
Farmhouse Culinary Workshop: Spring Quiche
Join The Trustees of Reservations at the farm for a Spring Quiche Culinary Workshop! In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a fluffy, rich quiche using seasonal vegetables from the farm and local dairy from our partners. Learn the secrets to a sturdy crust and a perfectly set interior. Class will end with quiche to share and a recipe packet to take home!

Balers and bucket loaders and harrows, oh my! Grab the family and spend a spring afternoon at Appleton Farms meeting our machines. You’ll get to climb aboard and check check out the view from our a variety of equipment used every day at the farm throughout the year.
CraneExplorer: Sensational Seaweed
Algae, seaweed, or even sea vegetables! Whatever you prefer to call it, join this family education program to learn all about local seaweed. Participants will get their hands wet exploring and identifying local seaweed species and learn how seaweeds grow, reproduce, and provide food and habitat to many creatures. Families will get the chance to taste some seaweed food and create your own seaweed art to take home.
CraneExplorer: Seaside Science by the Dock
Take in beautiful views of the Crane Wildlife Refuge while learning about estuary flora and fauna and environmental conditions at the Crane Boat Dock. Families will conduct measurements of water quality and weather, census native vs. Non-native crabs, collect and observe plankton using field microscopes, and observe the ever-shifting tides. Join this program to discover a lesser-known area of the Crane Estate, on the backside of Crane Beach along the picturesque Castle Neck River.
