Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) present a free community concert at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport! Featuring NMYO’s string, woodwind, brass and percussion ensembles, this special concert will include music from some of the great masters of the chamber music genre in addition to more contemporary composers.
Led by Music Director Gerald J. Dolan, Jr., with an accomplished team of music professionals, NMYO creates community connections and collaborations for its young players. NMYO’s 170+ musicians hail from 58 cities and towns and participate in one of seven ensembles offered by the program.
NMYO’s mission is to provide young musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for personal growth through musical performance and community service.
In addition to the regular rehearsal schedule from September through May, NMYO Symphony Orchestra musicians participate in an eight-week chamber music program culminating in the Honors Chamber Music Concert at the Shalin Liu Performance Center.
NMYO Symphony Orchestra musicians, and select members of Intermezzo Orchestra, participate in an eight-week chamber music program in which they are placed into small ensembles and coached by visiting professional musicians. NMYO chamber musicians perform in outreach concerts throughout the region in April as part of NMYO’s community service program, Youth Serving Through Music.
