Be advised - this is not plate tectonics! Come along on this one hour park ramble and learn about the fascinating science of geology. Discover that a rock is not a thing but a drama. Program entails about one mile of walking and is for all ages. Rain cancels. Bring sunscreen, good footwear, appropriate clothing and hydration.

“Ask Me to Sing” – a concert featuring selections that range from Bach to Broadway. The Honors Youth Choir of Chorus North Shore is an outstanding group of talented young musicians. The choir is fully funded, allowing students ages ten through high school the opportunity to learn and perform choral masterworks and present extraordinary concerts. The singers are selected by audition from communities throughout the North Shore.
The Van Kuijk Quartet - Nicolas Van Kuijk, violin | Sylvain Favre-Bulle, violin | Emmanuel François, viola | François Robin, cello - will be performing at the Shalin Liu performing arts center. Winners of the 2015 Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition along with the Best Beethoven and Best Haydn prizes, the Quartet has also won the First Prize and Audience Award at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition and are laureates of the Aix-en-Provence Festival Academy and the FNAPEC Ensembles Music Competition.
The Honors Chamber Music Concert features Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras top musicians all of whom demonstrate a high level of skill and musicianship. This special concert will include music from some of the great masters of the chamber music genre in addition to more contemporary composers. Audience members are invited to attend a reception immediately following the concert to celebrate the accomplishments of these talented young musicians. This concert is free and open to the public.
The Akropolis Reed Quintet was founded in 2009 at the University of Michigan and is the first ever ensemble of its makeup to win a Fischoff Gold Medal (2014), Grand Prize at the Plowman and MTNA national competitions, and 6 national chamber music prizes in total. Hailed by Fanfare for its “imagination, infallible musicality, and huge vitality”, Akropolis has performed from Juneau to Abu Dhabi and has showcased at five national conferences. This concert is free, no tickets required.
