Children learn how to care for and interact with our farm animals while discovering the wonders of the 230 acre Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. In addition, each day brings a special event, including yoga, plein air painting, dog day, arts and crafts, and more. In honor of Earth Day, raptor rehabilitator and educator Jane Kelly, of On the Wing, will present a live raptor program in the refuge visitor center auditorium. Audience members will have a very special opportunity to view a variety of live birds of prey, while Jane provides an overview of their natural history. Need more assurance that winter is really ending? Come explore the refuge on a self-guided scavenger hunt for signs of spring. Engage all your senses (ok, not taste!), to learn more about how our resident plants, birds, frogs, and other wildlife respond to the changing seasons.
Birds flock to Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and so do the birdwatchers enjoying the sight and sounds of the many birds. If identifying the 300+ birds that visit the refuge intimidates you, come join refuge staff and Friends volunteers for a gentle introduction to birding. We will observe and learn to identify the different ducks that come through in April, as well as talk about why they come to the refuge.
The Pysanky For Peace Project is excited to announce our first exhibition of pysanky and messages to Ukraine! Join the Wenham Museum in Wenham, MA on April 16th for the opening of the exhibit. All donations accepted throughout the exhibition which runs through mid-June will be given to RAZOM for Ukraine.
The NTL's own Kati Bourque will present a brief history on Ukrainian Easter Eggs and teach you how to create your own egg. All materials will be provided and you will go home with an egg that you made! This program is geared towards teens and adults, as you will be handling a raw egg, a lit candle, and permanent dyes.
