Kids aged 10 and up are invited to take part in the the Salem Library's Cupcake Challenge! This competition ecnourages kids to create and decorate the ost beautiful, delicious and hilarously weird cupcake they can. Register by phone (978-744-9667) or in person in the Children's Room. Come to the Abbot Public Library May 9 – June 2 to step into Marblehead's own version of the Van Gogh's Starry Night. This inspired theme will be the backdrop for this year’s Marblehead High School's Annual Senior Art Show. The show will exhibit different media, from photographs to busts to paintings, all created by the students of the class of 2016. Many of the pieces have won awards in art competitions and are truly spectacular to look upon. The opening night reception will be on Monday, May 16, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Abbot's art gallery.
Children ages 8-12 are invited to an afterschool program with children's author Paul Korins focused on his most recent book, . The novel is a time-travel, historical story, during which a 12-year-old boy is transported to the 1930s, experiencing the hard times of the Great Depression. He will be talking with students at the program about the hardships endured by families, and what life was like for children back then.
Teens are invited to Abbot Public Library for a fun afternoon of boards games! This a drop-in program - no registration required. Join us in the Teen Room for games and snacks. We will play cards, Clue, Apples to Apples and other fun board games (or you can bring your own). Snacks and hot chocolate provided. Bring a friend!
Children in grades 3-5 are invited to our monthly, interactive, afterschool science club. The Science Explorers program will be structured around a science topic and easy experiments using everyday materials. Open to grades 3 and up.
Abbot Library drop-in program for children ages 3-5 will be held each Wednesday at 10:15 am - 11:15 am & again at 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm.
The program is designed for children who love to listen to stories and then do a craft. The schedule is as follows:
