The Manchester Touch a Truck is going strong after more than a decade! The trucks are fabulous, the crew and officers even more so as they chat with children, allow the children to get on an din the vehicles, see different emergency vehicles in a safe and calm setting (not how most children experience them) and provide a wonderful photo opportunity for parents and grandparents as well as a great community spirit!
05/24/2013: This workshop was canceled! Come to a fun filled workshop hosted by the Beverly Recreation Department! Building a fairy house is a great way for kids to be creative and learn about preserving our planet. Use twigs, rocks, shells, mulch, sand, pinecones, moss, clay and more. Children encouraged to dress like fairies! Materials included. A photographer may take pictures for parents (extra fee for pictures). Instructor: Gigi Sisman-Thomson.
Join geologist James Matz and farm manager Gretta Anderson for a tour of Moraine Farm in Beverly. A geologist and member of Beverly's Planning Board, James Matz will present information about the geology and soils of the farm. Farm Manager Gretta Anderson will introduce participants to the 23-acre organically-managed community vegetable farm which is owned by The Trustees of Reservations.
The Long Hill Flower Fields need volunteers to help with the PYO flower programs and to staff their booth at the Beverly Farmers' Market. Teens and adults can fulfill their community service obligation with these programs. Come volunteer at this beautiful location and help preserve a wonderful community resource! Instructor Bruce Doig of the Beverly Recreation Department will teach the basics necessary to umpire Little League and Girls Softball games. Earn money doing something you enjoy. Open to any boy or girl who will be 13 years old by April 1, 2013. Training includes rules of the game, on-field situations and umpiring mechanics for youth games. All participants receive rulebooks.
