COASTSWEEP Beach Cleanup

CoastSweep encourages families to volunteer and help preserve some of the nicest coastal properties on the planet!

Living on the North Shore has a lot of benefits, and one of the best is our proximity to the beach.  Wherever you might be living or visiting on the North Shore, you are never more than a half-hour car ride from the nearest spot to bury your toes in the sand.  We have miles and miles of beautiful beach available to us, and it's our obligation to help keep it clean. Each September through November, thousands of volunteers throughout Massachusetts turn out for COASTSWEEP—the statewide coastal cleanup sponsored by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM). Teen Volunteers at MPL

Teens are encouraged to volunteer at the Manchester Public Library this Summer

Calling all teens for the 2016 Summer Volunteen Program! If you’re entering 6th to 12th grade, the library would love to have you volunteer this summer to help keep the summer reading program running flawlessly! We ask volunteens to do 15 hours of service over the course of the summer. We're more than happy to schedule service hours around summer commitments, as long as you give us enough of a heads-up! Applications for the 2016 Summer Volunteen Program are at the front desk. Completed applications can be returned to Kate.

The Long Hill Flower Fields need volunteers to help with the PYO flower programs and to staff their booth at the Beverly Farmers' Market. Winter Family Field Trip: Terrific Animal Tracking
Families will learn about identifying animal tracks at Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport Massachusetts!
Mammals such as squirrels, rabbits and deer leave many signs that they are active in winter. Learn how to interpret the tracks and signs or clues of active animals in winter. Stay active and warm with a group challenge about hibernation. Conduct an experiment about snow insulation.
