Candy Sushi for Teens at NPL

Teens and tweens are invited to come make candy sushi at the Newburyport Public Library

Newburyport Public Library invites tweens and teens to stop by the library and make “sushi” – made with rice cereal treats and different candies. Use your imagination and see what crazy combinations you can come up with! No sign-ups necessary. Create beautiful and edible candy sushi! We'll provide all the supplies you'll need, as well as a take home box and some chopsticks.

The astronomy & science club is for grade-school children who are interested in learning more about Science, Astronomy, and outer space. in the fall of 2014, kids will be exploring the Science of Superheroes! Can people use science to replicate superpowers? Can we see through solid objects, talk to each other with just our minds, become invisible? And how about flying like either Superman or Iron Man? We will take a hard look at our favorite superpowers, separate myth from what might be possible and create our own superheroes.

Amanda Cook of the Writer's Center is offering a free series of writer's Workshops for all ages on Wednesdays in the Sawyer Free Public Library (Gloucester) These classes are open to all writers interested in working on a Picture Book entry for the Cape Ann Reads (Manchester, Essex, Gloucester, Rockport) project. Classes will be May-October, Third Wednesday of every month, 1-2 PM, Sawyer Free Library.

Come see the Marblehead High School Senior Art Show at Abbot Library

Come to the Abbot Public Library May 9 – June 2 to step into Marblehead's own version of the Van Gogh's Starry Night. This inspired theme will be the backdrop for this year’s Marblehead High School's Annual Senior Art Show. The show will exhibit different media, from photographs to busts to paintings, all created by the students of the class of 2016. Many of the pieces have won awards in art competitions and are truly spectacular to look upon. The opening night reception will be on Monday, May 16, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Abbot's art gallery.
