Our 12-bed unit is just the right size for women seeking a combination of experience you can trust and personalized attention you can't get at larger facilities – all while staying close to home.
Sibling Preparation Class is offered to big brothers and sisters. The class includes a tour of the Birth Center and age-appropriate activities to let children have fun while learning about new babies and changes in the family. 2020 classes are on Sundays from 1:15-2:15pm in the Higgins Conference Room at Anna Jaques Hospital.
Come learn about the benefits of infant massage and practice hands-on demonstrations as taught by Anna Jaques Hospital Neonatal Care Center nurses.

Anna Jaques Hospital is pleased to offer free group classes for all mothers in our community to provide support, encouragement and advice on parenthood and questions that arise after going home. This new group (for moms, grandmothers, and female caregivers only) is focused on adjusting to the first few months of parenthood to support new mothers and their babies.
Formerly named Lactation Support Groups, the Mother & Baby Newborn Group is facilitated by a Lactation Consultant/Registered Nurse to support every woman’s mothering experience.
You do not need to be a breastfeeding mom to enjoy this group. All aspects of mothering are discussed. Guest speakers will present periodically on topics such as car seat safety, infant nutrition, and infant growth & development. Drop-ins welcome!

This new group (for moms, grandmothers, and female caregivers only) is focused on adjusting to the first few months of parenthood to support new mothers and their babies.
This group meets Wednesdays from 2:00pm-3:30pm in the Higgins Conference Room at Anna Jaques.
THIS IS SOLD OUT - This 4 week, girls only, empowerment yoga series is meant to inspire a strong sense of being, both mentally and physically. A gentle vinyasa flow will get muscles moving, focus minds, and deliver an immediate sense of well being. The second half of class explores the weekly empowerment topic: Self Confidence; Positive Self-Talk; Self Compassion; Mindfulness/Gratitude. Topics are then practiced through creative activities such as writing letters to self, painting inspirational mottos, character trait puzzles, and personal gratitude journals. The class will be challenged with giggle-worthy partner poses, team building games, and opportunities for students to be the teacher.
Join Newburyport Youth Services or open Gym hours every Saturday! The Rec Center gym is open on Saturdays for youth to come and hang in a free-play setting. Stop by to shoot hoops, play dodgeball, floor hockey, run free and use the gym.
Come race the Festivus 5k in downtown Salem Massachusetts and raise funds for the Northshore Education Consortium of Beverly to help them purchase technology to assist and educate children with autism! Festivus 5K (F5K) for Autism is a yearly Festivus-themed holiday race through historic Salem, MA. The event is sponsored by Friends of North Shore Education Consortium. To date, F5K has raised over $100,000 to help children with autism and their families. Costumes are welcome and encouraged!
