Sense of Wonder Walk for Families: Ponding
Each 'Sense of Wonder' outing will begin with a short introduction indoors, and then we will go outside for a walk. Topics for each walk are listed below, but we will stop and investigate anything that crosses our path. Join us for one or both of these spring programs.
Color Blast at Crane Beach
Come to the white sands of CRANE BEACH to collectively welcome Springs revitalization with a BLAST of COLOR! Beach Bonfire & Om Drum 1-3pm, Color Blast precisely at 2pm! Bring a drum and join the circle if you like. We will have some number of percussion instruments available to share. Event is FREE. Crane Beach Parking fees apply.
Kids in the Kitchen Afternoon Cooking Series
Appleton farms is launching a NEW afterschool cooking class for kids ages 8-12. Do you have a future chef on your hands or kid that loves taste testing with new recipes? We will get our hands dirty both out on the farm and in the kitchen! Each week we will use locally sourced ingredients, some of which we may harvest ourselves, to craft 2 delicious recipes. We will discuss topics like seasonality, following recipes, proper measuring and knife skills. Cooking experience is certainly not required, but a love off food is recommended!

On this special program designed especially for our young farm friends, we’ll enjoy calf close encounters, a cow story and costume, a tour of the milking barn to see our cows being milked and more! Learn why cows have big ears, how much milk they make and how we turn it into delicious cheese.

StoryWalk: The Snow Globe Family
Looking for a way to get outside with the kiddos this February Vacation? Stop by The Stevens-Coolidge Place to follow our StoryWalk trail through the property! Our grounds are free and open to the public everyday. Simply enter the grounds, head left towards the beginning of the StoryWalk by the well behind the greenhouse and begin your adventure!
Wild Rumpus Walk
Note: this event has been canceled! What’s a Wild Rumpus you ask? Well it’s any sort of commotion with loud noise. It’s how we let loose and go wild. Sometimes winter can build up energy inside us and we simply must let it out! The Wild Rumpus Walk will allow just that. Beginning with a reading of Where the Wild Things are and building our own noise-makers, participants will then set off on a walk throughout The Stevens-Coolidge Place property to enjoy a good rumpus. This program will take place inside and outside, please dress for the weather. Recommended for ages 6-8.
Ice is Nice! Sunday Morning Science at Joppa
When and how does water form into ice? When and how does it melt? And what makes it melt faster or slower? We will perform fun science experiments to understand ice and snow, freezing and melting. They we'll put your science knowledge to work to make ice cream!
