Appleton Farms is one of the most significant cultural and natural landscapes in American agrarian history. Our working landscape offers a diversity of learning opportunities for all ages, from soil science and habitat management to cheese making and community supported agriculture. The rich stories, rare resources, and sustainable operations, make Appleton Farms one of the finest stages in the country to showcase and teach excellence in small-scale agriculture.
Haul the sails and head out on an adventure of a life time! Maritime Gloucester and the Schooner Ardelle join forces to offer the ever-popular Coastal Explorers summer program! During this week-long program, participants will be part of the crew on the Schooner Ardelle on daily voyages to ports and islands along the North Shore in search of adventure and excitement.
Climb aboard and set a course for fun & exploration! Through this week-long program students will learn to sail a traditional Gloucester fishing schooner while participating in exciting hands-on marine science and maritime heritage explorations at Maritime Gloucester & along the coast of the North Shore. Students will spend their first two days on shore exploring topics in marine science and maritime heritage in MG’s labs, aquarium and in the field.
Working together to build one boat, students will use woodworking tools, measuring, cutting, screwing and glueing while learning concepts of boat design (stability, speed, displacement, etc). In addition, students will explore other topics of marine science and maritime heritage in our museum, aquarium and waterfront site. A popular course last year, a second session could be offered if there is enough interest.

Summer Camp at Waldorf School at Moraine Farm: Transcendent Experiences in Nature
It's About Being a Kid, Learning, Developing Skills, Personal Expressions, Social Development, Connecting with Nature, Friendships.
This year the Waldorf School at Moraine Farm is excited to offer two programs.
Studies show that children who spend time in nature and develop a rapport with the great outdoors are healthier, happier kids. At SummerQuest, we strive to connect children with the natural world, and to exercise their imaginations as well as their muscles.
Children should be outside during the summer. The long, warm days are perfect for outdoor exploration along with fun and games with friends. Wild About Nature provides a safe, nurturing environment for your child to explore, grow, and make the most out of their summer break. Our groups are kept small so that children have meaningful interactions with fellow campers and counselors. All of our staff go through a rigorous week of training and have prior experience working with children.
