Children can register to come and read to a certified therapy dog. This program encourages reading confidence and is a fun way for kids to practice literacy. Sessions last for 15-minutes, and we ask that you please arrive for the time slot that you register for. Sessions are individual, but siblings are welcome to come and read together.

Come and build Legos with us at NTL! We have TONS of Legos. Feel free to come and build your own creations, or build off a project that has already been started. We will even put your creation on display! This will be a casual club where all participants can follow whatever direction their engineering intuition takes them, we will not be teaching how to make specific models. Recommended for ages 4+, with siblings always welcome.
Come by to play checkers, Scrabble, cards, Monopoly, Jenga, Uno or any other board game that you wish to bring or access one of these games that the library already owns. We also have some fun games like Catan and Betrayal at House on the Hill for Teens. NO SIGN-UPS, just drop in!
The Friends Annual Plant Sale is coming. Save the date so you can spring into gardening with perennials, annuals, fabulous raffle prizes, and more! Come play in a Dungeons and Dragons ongoing campaign! You'll create your own characters and build the story session to session. Come if you're a beginner or if you know the rules. All are welcome! Registration is required and is for all 7 weeks. The sessions take place every other Wednesday for 2 hours.

Our annual Friends' Spring Book Sale takes place daily at the main library from Saturday, Saturday May 10 through May 17. The sale will be open daily during regular library hours: Mon.-Thurs., 9AM-9PM; Fri. & Sat., 9AM-5PM. Paperbacks are $1, hardcovers $2, and all children's books are .50. Come to Toad Hall Bookstore to learn all about the habitat of vernal ponds. This program includes the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team's DVD "Vernal Ponds" which includes the definition of a vernal pool and lots of footage of Cape Ann wildlife. We focus on the importance of these pools and how to protect them. This is followed by up close viewing of some of our favorite vernal pool creatures. Children under 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
