We will learn about hibernation, migration, and the amazing adaptations animals have for surviving our harshest temperatures. The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun. Participants will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.

Traditional Native American storyteller and historian of European and Abenaki heritage, Anne Jennison will give a performance of Traditional Abenaki stories at the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA at 1PM. The Crane Estate sits on part of the land also known as Agawam, within the traditional lands of the Pennacook Abenaki confederacy. The Abenaki Peoples have an ancient history and rich cultural heritage, including a vast legacy of stories. Traditional Abenaki stories were, and are, meant for audiences of all ages – the entire community. The stories tell of the world’s creation, the creation of the aki (the land), the nebi (the water), the first awaasak (animal people), the first alnobak (human beings), and teach us how to live in balance with one another. The stories are filled with action, drama, wonder, and even moments of humor.

Longtime instructors, Greater Boston Safety Training will lead this one day class (4 hours). This course is designed for Teachers, Coaches, Babysitters, Construction workers, and the general public. This classroom course includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA as well as CPR and AED certification training - all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

Come to Sudden Pond for a day of fishing for all ages! This event is perfect for anglers of any experience level. Cast a line, learn about the fish in our waters, safety, and equipment. MassWildlife Angler Education Volunteer Instructors will be on hand to assist. Equipment is provided. No license required. The Friends of Harold Parker State Forest will be providing a barbecue for the hungry fisher people.
