Create a family treasure by making your own Russian nested doll, matryoshka, with Russian artist and storyteller, Marina Forbes. While decorating the dolls, families can listen to the folk music from Russia and try the “matryoshka dance”. Adults, teens and children six and up are invited to this workshop on traditional Russian arts and crafts.
Make some valentine cards, a collage, and more as we use art materials to create festive February fun on the half day, February 6, 1 PM! Internationally renowned Whale Specialist and Educator, Cynde McInnis, introduces us to her 43 foot inflatable Humpback Whale Nile, and teaches us all about the beloved marine mammal. The Abbot Public Library invites teens are invited to warm up at the library by making fleece hats, hand warmers, and cozy cup holders. We provide the materials, you provide the creativity. Once you're nice and toasty, make your own ice cream sundae and dream that it is summer outside. No sign-ups necessary. Please let us know if you'll be attending so that we have enough refreshments for all, by stopping by the Library or calling the main desk.
Winter is a great time to focus on birds. They are so visible with trees foliage removed, they are so in need of feeding, and they are going to be coming to the Manchester Library as live and paper birds this month! Please register. Our second bird program will focus on the art of Origami birds with Laura Geggis, a favorite of ours, coming back with her unique paper art instruction that works both audibly and visually for so many students.
