Newburyport Public Library invites children ages 4 - 6 to drop in with a parent/caregiver for our Kid's Movie Club where we will be showing animated children's stories. Today we will be showing "The Story About Ping", and other duck stories.
The group of seventeen galleries that participate in this popular art-focused event have expanded the schedule to a full weekend of gallery activities in 2012. Each after school program session at Joppa Flats Education Center begins with self-guided activities, challenges, or puzzles that lead us to our topic for the day. As a group, we'll observe, investigate, and compare wildlife, their adaptations, and the changes that they undergo in autumn. Participants may play the role of entomologist, ornithologist, astronomer, or even glaciologist throughout this series. Each experience will leave your young naturalist eager for the next session. And we always end with a tasty, thematic treat that the participants make!

Wear your comfy PJ's and slippers to the library for Pajama Movie Night! Kids in Grades 1-6 are invited to the Newburyport Public Library for a FREE showing of the new Muppet Movie. Juice and Popcorn will be served. This program is a drop in and no sign up is required!
Students in grades 7 through 12 are invited to submit an original poem of thirty lines or less on any subject for the Library’s third annual Teen Poetry Contest. Submissions will be accepted from March 1 through March 30. This year, all entries must be submitted electronically via a Google form (link below).
The Newburyport Public Library invites patrons of all ages to make marshmallow masterpieces for our 1st Annual Parade of Peeps! Show off your sweet skills by creating a scene in a standard size shoebox with Peeps portraying a piece of literature, a movie, or a famous event. There will be four age categories for the competition: Families (with children up to 5th grade), Tweens (grades 5-8), Teens (grades 9-12), and Adults.
An active, fun, program where you and your child will learn about the seals that live at the mouth of the Merrimack River. We will learn about what they eat, how they capture their prey, how they care for their young, and how they survive cold waters of the North Atlantic. We will play some games, sing a song or two, make a fun take-home craft, and enjoy a tasty snack!
