This summer there is a fun and exciting educational opportunity available to families and their children. The North Shore will be hosting teenagers students this year from Spain, China and Hong Kong. These students are coming to improve their English language skills and to experience American family life.
Throughout the week, students will attend English classes each morning and field trips each afternoon. EF Educational Homestay Program, a non profit organization, is looking for short-term, volunteer host families to welcome these students into their homes for 1, 2 or 3 weeks.
Host families are being asked to provide a bed for the student to sleep in (it is not necessary that they have their own room), transportation to/from nearby Endicott College, meals and a warm, loving environment for the student to spend their evenings and weekends. Host families are invited to join the students on designated field trips. EF Homestay Program offers a generous weekly stipend per hosted student.
This is a fabulous way to learn about another culture while sharing your own:
- Also, students who host, can earn community service points toward graduation requirements, based upon your school’s acceptance.
- EF Educational Homestay Program will make a $25 donation for every family referred to any chosen organization.
The program is supported by round the clock staff. The students are fully insured and bring their own spending money. Many of these students have dreamed their entire life of coming to the United States. They have studied English in school and are eager to spend their summer learning first hand about American family life, culture and community.
