U. S. National Park Service hosts a 45 minute slide lecture will be provided in the auditorium on gardens of the Colonial period, from early settlement until the time of the Revolution. The purposes of these gardens, popular garden styles and layouts, and a selection of popular and useful plants, will be among the topics discussed.
Following the slide lecture will be a tour of the herb gardens and plants found along the riverbank and on the grounds. The program will be led by award-winning landscape designer and garden writer Laura Eisener, who teaches landscape courses at North Shore Community College and Boston Architectural College, and is a landscape consultant for Northeast Nursery.
