Come to Sawyer Free Library for a fun morning with The Spoon Man! The Spoon Man is a musical comedy who performs a hilarious interactive comedy program for all ages. It's a spoonful of family fun! All are welcome, meet in the friend room.
Enjoy an evening out with the owls. This guided hike will begin in the Stevens-Coolidge Place parking lot located across the street from the property. As the day falls deeper into the night and new animals emerge as others retire, we will walk together through the property in search of screech owls and great horned owls. Flashlights strongly encouraged. Owl Prowls will be held rain, snow or moonshine. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Children and their caregivers are invited to spend a morning at the Stevens-Coolidge Place to enjoy a story and craft time focused on birds. Bird watching is enjoyable any time of year, but can be particularly rewarding in the winter if you've hung a homemade snack for the birds in your yard. So, join us this Wednesday morning to explore the world of birds around you through stories and a hands-on activity.
The wolf is an amazing survivor in its wild habitat, but human distrust of this predator once pushed it to near extinction. In the documentary, Wolves, we'll meet a pack up-close and learn how environmentalists in the American West worked to protect the wolves and bring them back from the edge of extinction. After the movie, we'll open up the floor to exchange opinions about the wolves. We'll discuss the protection and reintroduction of endangered species, and how the protection of wolves elsewhere can impact protection of rare species in our backyard. Popcorn will be served!

Join the Salem Maritime National Historic Site and Dr. Calvin Mires, Co-Founder and Instructor of Seafaring Education and Maritime Archaeological Heritage Program (SEAMAHP) in bringing maritime heritage to life through hands-on activities. Although we won't actually be practicing archaeology, visitors young and old will have the opportunity to use the tools and methods of archaeological research, survey and documentation.

As the sun warms the ground, you may come across a snake that slithers away before you have a chance to see it. This is your chance to get up close to see and appreciate these creatures living in our yards and woodlands. Rainforest Reptile Shows hosts “Night of Reptiles” Family night! Tickets include a live animal demonstration, dinner, children’s activities, door prizes,silent auction and hands on reptile encounters. Bring your camera! Limited tickets available! Some of the animals in attendance may include Fred, a 6-foot-long alligator, Venus, a 20-foot-long snake, and even a bird of prey! You will be able to meet, touch, and take your picture with snakes, lizards, turtles, and alligators. This fundraiser is to kick off the premier of Rainforest Reptile Shows new nonprofit RRS OASIS a 501(c)(3).

Venture to vernal pools where survival of fairy shrimp, salamanders, and wood frogs are crucial. We will explore pools, learn how to protect them, and meet these creatures that depend on these pools. This program is instructive to participants, so you can take home the techniques, forms, and methods to certify pools in your neighborhood...or back yard.
