Vacation week free fun for families! Cape Ann Symphony, along with the Sawyer Free Library, presents Katy and the Big Snow. Enjoy the beloved story by Gloucester's own Virginia Lee Burton read aloud by local actress Heidi Dallin, and set to music for this ensemble performance. Musicians will also introduce children to the various instruments in a mini show and tell. This special show for children and families will be held at Trinity Church, 70 Middle Street. Open to all, no registration needed. Approximate 40 minute program.
Bring your stuffed animal friends to this fun event! Join us as we learn about taking care of animals with the creators of the children's book Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals! Jennifer Welborn & Rozillia Mh will read their book & show us how to give our stuffies a check up with a mini veterinarian kit which children can take home with them.
Poetry without Paperis a contest for children, tween and teens who live in Gloucester or attend Gloucester schools! Submit an original poem on any theme. Submission dates are March 1-April 30. Winners will be chosen from each age group: high school, middle school, and elementary school.
Come to the library for an evening of coastal creations. Bring your own sea glass to make sea glass art. Picture frames, shells, and some crushed glass will be provided as well as step-by-step instructions to create designs that will keep the beach in your heart and your home. Registration required.
Embark on a grand adventure with Dungeons & Dragons at the Sawyer Free Library! Create your character and venture on an epic quest with Dungeon Master Ephraim Weaver. All experience levels are welcome. Free pizza lunch will be provided. Space is limited. 5th-12th grade.
Sawyer Free Library has a fun filled Spring Egg Decorating craft session planned. Kids can decorate craft eggs here at the library to take home! We will paint, color, & decorate faux eggs (materials will be provided.) Registration is required. Register each child individually.
Gloucester Education Foundation is proud to host the 6th Power of Play Festival, a day of play for families and kids of all ages. Maritime Gloucester has planned some interesting programs for kids during April Vacation 2024! The programs are geared towards learning about life in the sea, around it and on it! Four sessions are offered through the week for kids ages 5-10, with age-based groups for kids aged 5-7 in the morning and 8-10 in the afternoon. These sessions are part story, part presentation and part art or craft project. Kids will learn about sea life, coastal habitats and the food chain that supports us all!
Maritime Gloucester invites kids ages 5-10 to a vacation week session about some of the stranger creatures found in the ocean - part of a week full of educational sessions during April vacation! Although only 5% of oour ocean has been explored, some of what has been discovered has proven to be incredibly strange.
