Newburyport Winter Carnival 2014

The Newburyport Winter Carnival 2013 will take place on the Bartlet Mall Feb. 2

The annual Newburyport Winter Carnival is on! The day-long community event promises residents a day of winter fun following a schedule of events similar to years past, including the Fifth Annual Human Dog Sled Race! This free event is hosted by the Newburyport Parks Commission and Newburyport Youth Services.

NU Marine Science Center Open House

N.U. Marine Science Center Open House offers educational fun for the family!

All are invited to the Northeastern University Marine Science Center Annual Open House! You'll learn from researchers about marine habitats, meet some of creatures living there and explore the habitat in real time. In addition to some faithful standards such as touch tanks and tours of East Point, the Center will be showcasing the work and talent of its research labs and academic programs. With a half dozen new faculty members in the past year, there’s a lot more to explore!

Farmhands Volunteer Service

Join the farmhand crew to work along side our staff at Appleton Farms

Calling volunteers ages 13 and up! Join the farmhand crew to work along side our staff and gain first hand experience with our milking herd, planting and harvesting vegetables and flowers for the Community Supported Agriculture program, and raising chickens!  Each week will be different and follow the rhythms of the farm. Teens are encouraged to sign up for multiple weeks to see how their work contributes throughout the season. Space is limited.

Drop of your kids (grades 1-5) for a movie and Fun with NYS!

Newburyport Youth Services will be offering a movie that coincides with the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Invitation Nights.  This week's movie is Madagascar 3 - Europe's Most Wanted. Snacks and drinks will be available.  Drop of your kids and relax knowing that your kids are having as much fun as you are! Open to grades 1-5

Beverly Spring Clean Sweeps

Help clean up downtown Beverly in preparation of Spring!

Beverly Main Streets encourages volunteers to meet at the Beverly Common at 9am for the kickoff, sweep downtown till noon and return to Common for lunch. Help us sweep away the dust of winter and spruce up for spring! This is a great event for families, student groups, sports teams, Scouts and anyone else who wants to do a little community service. Lunch will be provided by Paul Guanci and Beverly Spring Clean Sweeps.

Note:  This event has been cacelled due to the unseasonably warm weather!

As long as Mother Nature cooperates, the annual Winter Carnival will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2012. This annual event has only been canceled once, so we're hoping for a little cold and a little snow to get the show started at the Bartlet Mall in Newburyport.

The free event is hosted by the Newburyport Parks Commission and Newburyport Youth Services.
