Meet the mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie as part of the Books Alive! literacy initiative, generously sponsored by Irving Oil. Museum staff will read the mouse's story aloud and kids can enjoy hands-on crafts, games and reading activities. The costumed mouse character will make frequent appearances for hugs and high-fives. Join us as we share a children's nature story before we explore the woods, fields, and wetlands of the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary.Today: We'll read [amazon B000PJ7OCS inline] by Nancy Luenn. Then, using buckets and strainers, we will explore a pond and a wetland habitat and search for critters that swim, soar, and crawl.
Children ages 4-kindergarten are invited to join story time to listen to age-appropriate stories, participate in creative activities, and crafts. Children attend independently. No registration is required.

Bring your young naturalist to the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary to enjoy an afternoon on the Ipswich River! As the summer starts to heat up, cool down with us on a leisurely canoe paddle to Perkins Island. We'll look for sunbathing turtles and other river creatures on the banks and in the backwaters of the beautiful Ipswich River. Once we get to the island, we'll stretch our legs and enjoy some popsicles.
Gloucester Stage Company invites kids ages 2 and up to Playtime Stories. Playtime Stories offers young children the unique opportunity to experience the fun and magic of live theatre as they watch their favorite books come to life onstage. Following the performance audience members will be invited to join the Playtime Stories Company in fun and interactive workshops relating to the story.
