Eastern Point Day School Summer Adventures

Activities and Things to do for children in Gloucester MA

Eastern Point Day School offers two great options for children this summer.

Summer Adventures Bookmaking Program is offered to children entering 1st – 6th Grade.  This popular North Shore program is offered in one week, all day session, to aspiring authors who write and publish their own stories and books culminating with “coffee house” readings to families and friends on Friday afternoon.

Summer Adventures Weekly Theme Programs offer a variety of experiences to children entering Kindergarten – Grade 8. Each one week session will introduce a theme led and supervised by local individuals and organizations that specialize in specific areas of interest. In addition to daily on-site activities and field experiences, children will participate in outdoor games and sports including visits to scenic Niles Beach.  Weekly sessions will include local youngsters and international students from the Boston School of Modern Languages hosted by Cape Ann families. Local children who sign up for the full day will join BSML students on weekly afternoon outings and on-site activities.

Secrets of Science July 7 - 11
You won't need a lab coat, a chemistry set, or even a test tube to be a Junior Scientist. All Newton needed to get him started was a falling apple and a whack on the head. With simple materials, we will make a periscope, explore chemical reactions, and do lots of zany experiments. We will solve some perplexing puzzles and mind boggling mysteries. Come join the fun and unlock the Secrets of Science.

Arts and Crafts by the Sea July 14 - 18
Join us for an exciting week of creating and crafting. Children will explore and develop individual styles as they learn to use various mediums and techniques to create fun, functional and favorite masterpieces to share with families and friends. The mess will stay at EPDS and the treasures will go home!

Rockets and Rovers July 21 - 25
5 4 3 2 1, Lift off! Children will become space engineers for a week designing, building, and testing rockets and rovers. Techniques and variables will be explored as young rocketeers experience the challenge, joy, and excitement that lead to success. Children will be able to take home some of their rockets and rovers.

Little Theater by the Sea July 28 - Aug 1
Children are introduced to the world of theater arts. Through the exploration of performance and technical theater, including scene work, make-up design and improvisation, participants will develop a strong understanding of theater arts, both onstage and off. Children will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what happens be-hind the curtains and under the lights. A performance showcasing the children’s talent and work will be presented at week’s end.
