Capture the beauty of Halibut Point State Park on paper! Join Jess Yurwitz from Slow River Studio for a beginner sketching lesson in the Park. No artistic experience necessary. Learn easy techniques to help you “see” the park in new ways by sketching. Supplies are included and this lesson is free!

Halibut Point State Park is also a granite quarry with a history that goes back billions of years! Over one hundred years ago, the Rockport Granite Company quarried granite stone at Halibut Point Learn about the buildings, bridges, and breakwaters built to last. Touch tools of the trade. Find out how they moved these large, heavy stone pieces and how they “paved” dirt streets in our Nation’s growing cities—and around the world!

Memorial Day starts with a small ceremony at American Legion Lot at 8:45 Locust Grove Cemetery Lanesville. The parade leaves at 10:00am sharp from American Legion Hall Beach st. to Beech Grove cemetery, the parade will reform and proceed down Pleasant Street to Mount Pleasant St. to Harvey Park where the parade will pause for a brief ceremonial laying of a wreath in Harvey Park and back to White Wharf then American Legion Hall.

Produce and locally-grown and made farm products can be purchased on-site from our farmers from 9am-1pm at the Rockport Farmers Market. Just stop by to purchase fresh food directly from your farmers and food producers!  Musicians and local community organizations are also on site, so come enjoy our fabulous community.
