Family Owl Prowl

Join a Family Owl Prowl Campout at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. Photo: Scott Santino

People of all ages love owls, and many species of owls can be found right here in Massachusetts year-round. Experience the excitement of an owl prowl as we take a night hike to look and listen for Barred Owls, Great Horned Owls, and Eastern Screech-owls. Before we head out on our nocturnal adventure, we'll learn fun owl facts in our cozy Barn using real owl mounts, feathers, talons, and a brief slide show. We'll end our evening with an owl-hooting lesson.

$1 Halloween Movie the Cabot: Gremlins

Come see Gremlins on Halloween at the Cabot Theater in Beverly Massachusetts for just $1/child!

This Halloween, Greater Beverly YMCA, Be Healthy Beverly, a youth substance use coalition, and the Regional Youth Prevention Network, is excited to present $1 Fright Night at The Cabot! Middle and High School students from across the North Shore are welcome to stop by between 4:30 and 6pm for some Halloween tricks and treats, before settling in with complimentary popcorn and soda to watch Gremlins on the big screen from 6-8pm.

Trick-or-Treat at the Castle

Kids are invited to Hammond Castle in Gloucester Massachusetts for some Halloween fun!

What better place to trick or treat than at an old seaside castle? We have everything you need to ignite your child’s imagination: a drawbridge, spiral staircase, and a Great Hall. Wingmasters with Jim Parks present Eyes on Owls. Owls are not evil spirits, wise little philosophers or Walt Disney creations. Nor do they wing about carrying messages, despite the way they're depicted in the Harry Potter books. In fact, owls are probably more misunderstood than any other kind of bird. These are hunting birds, yet their sharp beaks and talons are partly hidden under feathers. Owl have more and softer feathers than other birds, and this unique plumage gives them a plump, rounded look.

Take a guided walk along our Halloween trail, lit by glowing luminaries and home to some interesting characters that come out just for Halloween. Learn about local animals of the night and signs of the season on this, fun family-friendly walk. Allow about one and a half hours for this walk.

Trick or Treat Ipswich! Ipswich Business Roundtable has organized and sponsors Downtown Trick or Treat! For the sake of safety we would highly recommend that everyone start at the footbridge leading from Ebsco lot to South Main. If we keep foot traffic going in one direction, it will make for less congestion on the sidewalks. From there, please continue into South Main and make a loop through downtown’s Market Street, Central Street to the Fire Station. Safety first. Thanks everyone.
