See live raptors up close. In this much-anticipated program, Bethani Garland, a wildlife biologist and rehabilitator from On the Wing, will present audiences with five different raptors (birds of prey). You will observe the birds and learn their different calls, the best locations to sight hawks, falcons, and owls, and understand how different body shapes affect how raptors hunt their prey in the air.
This program will focus on hawks and falcons, in contrast to the Eyes On Owls program we host every Spring. On the Wing was founded with the goal of rescuing and rehabilitating injured birds, while educating the public about why raptors are so essential to our ecosystem and how to support them. We are proud to support their mission. They periodically releases rehabilitated owls, falcons, and other birds back into the wild. On The Wing is a sanctuary for merlins, kestrels, gyrfalcons, red tail hawks, red-shouldered hawks, a pied crow, screech owls, northern saw-whet owls, great horned owls, and barred owls.
In the program, you will also learn what to do if you come across injured or downed birds, which is relatively common.
We expect this program to sell out (our Eyes on Owls program sold out three weeks in advance), so we recommend reserving a ticket online.
All attendees aged 3 and up require a ticket for this event. This is a great event for families and children.
