A critical element of the Marblehead community needs our support. Piper field, a multi-purpose turf field at MHS, is utilized by organizations well beyond MHS Athletics. It is a staple for graduation ceremonies, the Marblehead Band, High School and Youth Soccer, Lacrosse, Cheer, Football, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Adult Men’s Soccer, Unified Athletics, student gatherings, camps, and more.

Take a walk through the meadow to read our Story Stroll brought to you by the Stevens Memorial Library. Then, hunt down the hidden pumpkins throughout the rest of the property to win a prize at the end.

There are so many stories about this beautiful former family estate. Join the park interpreter for this series of walks to view the house sites, gardens and farm complex to learn more about these areas of the Moseley Family estate. For ages 8 & up.
Wetlands are known for their rich variety of plant and animal life. Come explore Bunker Meadow Pond and the Ipswich River for a close-up look at a place where hundreds of hungry creatures are always on the hunt. Using nets and other collecting equipment, we'll dip into the water, sweep through the weeds, and scoop up some mud to discover the creatures that live there. Wear boots if you have them. For kids ages 3-11.
Fields are alive with animal activity on warm, fall days. Spend an early October day chasing butterflies, grasshoppers, and crickets with nets while taking some time to closely observe these amazing insects. We may also encounter predators of the field, such as Blue Birds, Leopard Frogs and Garter Snakes! This will be a hands-on experience the entire family can enjoy.
What is hiding under the rocks and logs of the sanctuary? Is it a centipede? Is it a salamander? Come find the hidden treasures beneath the forest floor. Walk with us through the forest to see how the changing season affects animals, trees, and plants. Examine tree holes and look for animals in the leaves, whatever we find, we will explore!

Joppa Flats' engaging and experienced staff will introduce families to local beaches, forests, and wetlands to make observations in nature, identify wildlife, and enjoy hands on science activities outdoors. Please join us for the fifth annual Run for Amy Memorial Trail Race, on September 23rd, 2023 through beautiful Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA. The race, in memory of Amy DiAdamo Foster, is meant to celebrate her life through embracing her passions of both running and spending time outdoors. Equally as important to Amy was the opportunity to gather friends and host a great party so don’t plan on leaving after your race, as music, food and libations are part of the festivities! Kids are encouraged to join into the fun and the race, there will be prizes for the top kid finishers in each of the 5K and 10K
ECGA hosts a salt marsh science walk with a former research fellow from Marine Biological Laboratory to learn about salt marsh science. Join Jade Fiorilla, Northeastern graduate with degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, for a walk to learn about the Great Salt Marsh. Jade has worked on the marsh at nearby Parker River National Wildlife Refuge as a research fellow with Marine Biological Laboratory. She recently completed research pulling together data from a long term study of marsh accretion and deposition events in the Plum Island sound.
