Mudeye Puppets in Newbury

Mudeye Puppets are fun and made with recycled materials!

The Newbury Town Library is having a puppet extravaganza for April vacation! The Mudeye Puppet Company is an educational puppetry arts organization dedicated to providing esteem-building arts workshops, reducing waste, and encouraging creativity through use of reused materials.  Come to the Library for a free show followed by a puppet making workshop!

What better way to spend a summer afternoon then at Appleton Farms! Carrot Club us is our drop in, pop-up program outside the Appleton Farm Store every Tuesday and Thursday from 2-4pm. Drop in anytime between 2 and 3:45 for a fun farm craft, story or game. Activities will change every session so there is always something fun to try! Activities will average 15-20 minutes and will be guided by our farm educator. Make it a fun stop during your visit before exploring the Farm Store, picking up your CSA share, or taking a walk to visit our barnyard animals.

Experience Appleton Farms anytime of day with Fun in the Farmyard! Drop by our Carriage Barn anytime between 10am-3pm on Sundays to experience life on the farm and meet some of our friendly farm animals. Activities are partially self-guided and can include farm crafts, games, story time, playing with the goats, meeting a chicken and more. This event is free and recommended for ages 2-6, but all are welcome! Make a day of it and bring a picnic lunch or stop by our Dairy Store to grab some goodies and spend your day on the farm.

Healthy Kids Day coincides with Earth Day at the Ipswich YMCA!

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. This year marks 30 Years of Celebrating Healthy Kids at the Y—that’s 30 years of highlighting how the Y helps build healthy, resilient kids through physical activity, nutritious foods, learning opportunities and more. The day-long event is celebrated by more than 1.2 million participants nationwide. Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Workshop at Appleton Farm

Join us in making a pie together in celebration of Strawberry and Rhubarb season. Students will learn how to make flaky, all butter pie crust and the best way to highlight the prominent fruits of the month. This class will lead participants through arranging a lattice top and will include tips and tricks to make your pie a show stopper at your next pot luck! Class will end with enjoying a slice of pie together and students will be sent home with a full pie.

Farm Explorers is a great way for preschoolers to explore Appleton Farms in Ipswich Massachusetts!

Winter is in the air and the animals of the farm and woods have prepared themselves for winter. Can we find their signs, like homes, tracks, and caches of food? What happens in winter around the farm? We invite little farmers to experience life at the farm in winter. Through farm “chores,” age-appropriate hands-on activities, stories, and visits with our barnyard animals, little farmers will become fully immersed in what life is like for a farmer.
