Create a family treasure by making your own Russian nested doll, matryoshka, with Russian artist and storyteller, Marina Forbes. While decorating the dolls, families can listen to the folk music from Russia and try the “matryoshka dance”. Adults, teens and children six and up are invited to this workshop on traditional Russian arts and crafts.
Make some valentine cards, a collage, and more as we use art materials to create festive February fun on the half day, February 6, 1 PM! The Abbot Public Library invites teens are invited to warm up at the library by making fleece hats, hand warmers, and cozy cup holders. We provide the materials, you provide the creativity. Once you're nice and toasty, make your own ice cream sundae and dream that it is summer outside. No sign-ups necessary. Winter is a great time to focus on birds. They are so visible with trees foliage removed, they are so in need of feeding, and they are going to be coming to the Manchester Library as live and paper birds this month! Please register. Our second bird program will focus on the art of Origami birds with Laura Geggis, a favorite of ours, coming back with her unique paper art instruction that works both audibly and visually for so many students.
Have you taken a beginning beaded jewelry class, but feel like you need a little help mastering a technique or have a project or two you've been meaning to complete? If so, this is the class for you! Finish up those projects or get advice and assistance tackling new pieces based on ideas swirling around in your head.
Maritime Gloucester students will learn collograph print making with local artist Camilla MacFadyen. You will build collograph printing plates out of seaweed collected on site and print some 30 yards of blue and green silk charmeuse and organza with the patterns of the sea.
