In every kind of weather, our favorite thing is to head outdoors to our spectacular local habitats to see what's new! We love to find things, think about colors, shapes and patterns, and wonder why this place is a special home to wildlife. Each nature exploration will focus on the importance of a sense of place. Local and migrating birds, other wildlife, collecting techniques, and environmental awareness will be presented in a fun, energetic format that adults and children alike will enjoy. Come join us as we hunt for bugs and learn about their place in our envrionment.

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler who loves animals. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list in an electronic goody bag!

Preschoolers will learn clams & other mud creatures at Joppa Flats Center
Preschoolers join Joppa Flats Naturalists in an active, fun, program where they will learn what makes a salt marsh special, what lives in a salt marsh, how these animals find their food, and a chance to touch and hold live animals from the salt marsh! Using group games, songs, and fun interactive props, we’ll turn your preschooler into estuary enthusiasts! We’ll also make a take home craft  and enjoy a tasty salt marsh looking snack!

Maudslay State Park invites you to take a snapshot look at the three stone bridges erected by the Moseleys – and their history. The bridges are architectural wonders, still functional after many years of use. The three stone bridges of Maudslay make a visit to the park a unique experience and tell us stories about the family and the property. When were the bridges built? What did they replace? Where did materials originate from?

Maudslay State Park has a volunteer program that's a perfect pick for 11 & 12 year olds called Junior Ranger Stewards, part of the Junior Ranger Hikers program.

Find the hidden secrets of Maudslay State Park with the park interpreter
Join the interpreter for this fun program that focuses on interesting aspects in different areas of the park. Use nets, magnifiers, and capture tanks to discover the hidden secrets of Maudslay. Wear appropriate outdoor clothing and bring water. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Appropriate for children 5 and up. Meet at the park headquarters

Maudslay State Park has a program that's a perfect pick for 8-10 year olds. Learn about various aspects of the park and explore different trails to interesting spots you may not know. Themes are insects, flowers and the pine plantation.  Attendance at three sessions earns you a Junior Ranger patch and certificate at the graduation.

Enjoy and evening stroll with the park interpreter at Maudlsay State Park in Newburyport
Join the park interpreter for a moderately paced walk to view different areas of the park and experience the changes at Maudslay over the spring, summer and fall.  Rain or shine. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

Fourth of July Fireworks at Salisbury Beach include a campfire and marshmallow roast on the beach.
Salisbury Beach hosts fireworks every Saturday night, through the Summer - weather permitting. Each show is preceded by a live concert. They also make an exception on the 4th of July, so grab a blanket and pack up the whole crew for fireworks on the beach!
