Sawyer Free Library offers a S.T.E.A.M.* club for children ages 3-5. We will be providing STEAM, story, and sensory activities all year round with opportunities for your child to do safe science experiments, build with Duplo and other materials, play some beginner Minecraft, read stories, make art, etc. We will have a different activity each month. This program is ideal for older preschool and younger elementary school students who are not yet ready for our other afterschool programs! Please register.

Cooking classes for children and adults
When school is closed, Taste Buds Kitchen is open! A new and unique menu is offered each week. Register for a few weeks or even a single day. Every day kids make two to three recipes – always one savory and one sweet – while whipping up batches of fun. Younger chefs focus on the basics along with kitchen games while the older camps tackle advanced techniques and culinary challenges. Professional Culinary Instructors and Kid Experts lead the way for a camp your budding chef won’t soon forget! A TBK apron is included for each full-week camper as well as flexible drop-off from 8:30-9:00am for a small fee.

CAM Kids will teach kids the basics of Calligraphy at Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester
Learn calligraphy basics with specialist Albina Papows. Inspired by the special exhibition Unfolding Histories: Cape Ann before 1900. Write your name, use calligraphy tools and leave with a sampler to take home. This family workshop is recommended for children 7 and up with an adult. Registration required.

Come to Lynch Park for the Beverly Homecoming 5k and kids fun run!
Its the Beverly Yankee Homecoming 5K Road Race! You are almost guaranteed to see someone you know at or around the competition. The flat course meanders through ocean side neigborhoods of Bevelry with a fast, picturesque finish. Neighbors line the streets to cheer runners on. Proceeds from the race benefit North Shore YMCA programs, camps, and other great services offered by the Y! Fun run at 5:30pm. Post Race Awards, music, photos refreshments and more.

Calling all Super Dads! Bring the whole family along for Rockport father’s day 5k/10k road race. The Rockport Father’s Day 10K is hands down the most spectacular race course in New England! Run, walk or stroll(er) this beautiful course as it winds its way along the rocky coast of Rockport. Same views, shorter course is the 5K sister race to this Father’s Day tradition.

On Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 pm, the Waldorf School at Moraine Farm graduating class, after a year of independent study, presents their projects. The eighth grade projects are one of the unique rites of passage for the graduating class at Waldorf School at Moraine Farm. Students combine the academic, artistic, and intellectual capacities fostered by their Waldorf education to research, develop, and present a project of their choosing.

Chase Argy the Gorilla down Argilla Road in Ipswich Ma in this fun 5k for all ages!
This fun-filled family event kicks off the 2017 YMCA North Shore Road Race Series, now in its 11th year! Argy the gorilla has completed this wandering 5K course through the wooded neighborhoods of Ipswich, on everything from running shoes to a Segway to the back seat of a convertible!  Bring the kids along for workout games with Argy (the Gorilla)! Post-race awards, music, photos, refreshments and more! This race is open to all ages.

Kite Day at Cogswell Grant is a wonderful fall afternoon event for North Shore families
Come fly a kite at Cogswell's Grant! Bring your own kite or build one of your own, and watch professional kite flyers from Kites Over New England. Archie Stewart of Kite Education teaches a workshop with all materials included, where kids and adults can make their own kites and learn how to fly them.
