Be prepared for any outdoor adventure and get certified to work in outdoor organizations and camps. Join this two-day Wilderness Medical Associates (https://www.wildmed.com/) course, April 22 -23, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm each day. This certification is ideal for seasonal outdoor staff and those involved in recreational wilderness trips.
Learn about general medical concepts and life support skills when definitive care is over 2 hours away.
Experience hands-on skill building drills and demonstrations.
Become a certified wilderness first aid provider.
The course is taught by a national registry EMT (NREMT) and a Wilderness EMT (WEMT) who holds a certificate of travel health from the International Society of Travel Medicine. He also happens to be a Waldorf School at Moraine Farm 8th-grade parent. This course is what most college outing clubs require for trip leaders. The certification lasts three years.
Curriculum will include: the patient assessment system (PAS), basic life support including CPR, big 3 systems, the musculoskeletal system, lifting/moving/extrication, thermoregulation, lightning, drowning, toxins/bites/stings, allergy/anaphylaxis (and administration of epinephrine).
Certifications will include Wilderness First Aid, Basic Life Support (including Adult CPR)) and allergy/anaphylaxis workshop.
This course is for ages 16+.
The cost of the course is $350. All proceeds will go towards the 8th-grade class trip happening this spring.
