Curious George at CMNH

Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat will be visiting the Children's Museum of New Hampshire to greet young fans and help promote the love of reading via the Books Alive program.  At this Books Alive event, museum staff will be reading Curious George stories by Margret and Hans “H.A.” Rey throughout the day. The friendly costumed monkey character, accompanied by the Man with the Yellow Hat, will be popping in and out to greet children, exchange a hug or high-five, and pose for photos.

There will also be a variety of monkey-inspired literacy, math and creative activities for children in the museum’s large classroom.

The first Curious George story was published in 1941. Margret and H.A. Rey produced six more stories featuring the mischievous monkey, with Hans mainly doing the illustrations and Margret working mostly on the stories. All the Curious George books, including the seven original stories by Margret and Hans, have sold over 25 million copies. George has become one of the most beloved and most recognizable characters from children’s literature.

George's adventures have been translated into many languages, including Japanese, French, Afrikaans, Portuguese, Swedish, German, Chinese, Danish, and Norwegian.

All Books Alive activities are included with regular paid admission to the museum: $9 for adults and children over the age of 1 and $8 for seniors. Museum admission is free for Children’s Museum of NH members and children under 1 year old.
