Celebrate the Rails at MOS

Museum of Science Celebrates the Rails with an Assortment of Train Activities

Celebrate the winter season at the Museum of Science with a suite of train-themed attractions, sure to entertain the entire family. For the second year in a row, the Museum’s temporary model train exhibit, All Aboard! Trains at Science Park, makes its return, in a new space within the Museum, alongside a variety of other attractions, including Thomas & Friends™ and OMNI and 4-D films sure to make for a day filled with fun exploring the rails.

Returning on November 23rd is the Museum’s seasonal tradition, All Aboard! Trains at Science Park, featuring classic winter landscapes, miniature trains, snow-covered peaks, engaging hands-on activities, and more. Visitors will experience multiple model train layouts, including tables where kids of all ages can lay wooden tracks and explore trains hands-on, a Mountain Village, featuring O-Scale model trains, a Village Trolley display, featuring G-Scale model trains, and a Boston Train Layout, featuring local landmarks and HO-Scale model trains. The exhibit will also feature a custom-made, HO Scale, 11’ 6”-long model of the Museum of Science, created by studio model maker and digital artist, John Goodson, who has worked on film series such as Star Trek, Star Wars, and others. In addition, visitors can consult with expert train model makers, who will be on-site on select days to care for the model train displays and answer questions. Created in collaboration with the HUB Division, Inc., of the Northeast Region (NER) of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA), a non-profit organization that has served Boston and Eastern Massachusetts-area model train enthusiasts for the past 50 years, the displays will showcase a variety of model trains, sure to spark the curiosity of the whole family. The exhibit will be at the Museum through January 7, 2020.

“This winter, we are excited to bring All Aboard! back to Science Park, partnering again with the HUB Division to build upon last year’s immersive experience,” said Christine Reich, Senior Vice President of Exhibits & Research at the Museum of Science. “This exhibit invites visitors, children and adults alike, to experience and celebrate the intricate and evocative nature of model trains. We are thrilled to engage our visitors throughout our Exhibit Halls, as we carry the train theme through the Museum with additional exhibits and shows.”

Throughout the Museum, visitors will have the opportunity to explore and experience trains through a variety of exhibits and films.
