Newburyport Yankee Homecoming invites you to the Annual High School Battle of the Bands. Local High School aged bands will compete to see who rises to the top and with top winners getting cash prizes, performing live at other Yankee Homecoming Events and paid gigs for the band. Watch local student bands battle it out on the stage, and help your favorite band by voting for them!
The Annual Yankee Homecoming parade is a Traditional New England Parade that is sure to please! There will be a variety of entertaining floats and marchers. Yankee Homecoming and the people of Newburyport all come together to watch a parade on the first Sunday in August. The streets lined with families, friends, and visitors have made this parade a long time favorite summer tradition.
The Newburyport Yankee Homecoming is a chance for folks to cheer the servers from their favorite Newburyport establishment as they race in a test of skill and speed while carrying a loaded tray. The Newburyport Yankee Homecoming Waterfront Concert Series invites you to enjoy the 215th Army Band perform its complete ensemble at Waterfront Park, Newburyport! The 215th Army Band of the Massachusetts Army National Guard remains one of the nation’s finest military bands. For more than 60 years, the band has performed throughout New England and the world, bringing the Army’s fine musical traditions and goodwill to thousands of listeners.
The Yankee Homecoming Waterfront Concert Series invites you to enjoy Beatles music by the sea with Beatlejuice! BEATLEJUICE doesn’t mimic the Beatles, they honor them! Widely recognized as the finest interpreters of Lennon & McCartney, Beatlejuice combines wonderful vocals, great musicianship and true respect for their heroes. Playing special tribute to the late Brad Delp will be friends Mike Girard and Joe Holaday (Newburyport’s own) of “The Fools” along with Jim Rogers, Buddy Bernard, Steve Baker, John Muzzy and Bob Squires. This will be an evening of celebration, love and remembrance and the greatest rock ‘n roll music ever written!
The Newbuyrport Yankee Homecoming Bed Race is an annual event in Newburyport hosted by the Lions Club of Newburyport. The race is a ¼ mile team sprint down Federal Street to the finish line. Each team consists of 3 pushers, 2 pullers and a 'sleeper', and the goal is to get to the finish line with the bed and sleeper in the fastest time! This is a fun event for the community and always draws a big crowd. Come cheer on your favorite team, or just watch the fun! Funds raised will go to Lions Club charities.
The tradition continues in 2023. We will be back to offering both the 5K and 10 mile distances this year. Join us on Tuesday, August 1st as we celebrate the 63nd year of the Yankee Homecoming Race. Imagine a beautiful Summer evening in the bucolic seaport town of Newburyport, MA. Thousands of runners will enjoy our breathtaking 5K and 10 Miles courses along the ocean, through the bustling downtown and charming New England neighborhoods.
