Join birding expert and former Crane Beach Ranger, Dave Williams, on a walk through the woodlands and fields of the Crane Estate to talk about birds. If you have never been birding before, Dave will teach you how to use binoculars to watch birds and pick out characteristics that will help you identify what species you see. If you’re a seasoned pro, bring your bird list and keep an eye out for spring migrants! If you’re not into birds (yet), come for a pleasant morning stroll. Calling all Super Dads! Bring the whole family along for Rockport father’s day 5k/10k road race. The Rockport Father’s Day 5K is hands down the most spectacular race course in New England! Run, walk or stroll(er) this beautiful course as it winds its way along the rocky coast of Rockport. Same views, shorter course is the 5K sister race to this Father’s Day tradition.
As late Spring becomes early Summer, it means one thing: turtle time! Join us for an afternoon of exploring our wetlands in search of these fascinating reptiles. We'll visit areas where turtles like to nest in hopes of finding some eggs, and, with a little luck, get an up-close look at a painted turtle. We'll conclude with a trip to the Rockery to see if we can summon our resident snapping turtle, Godzilla.
Greenbelt and North Shore Nature Programs present Birds - Bees - Butterflies! Celebrate and learn about honey bees, butterflies and the other pollinators so important to our flowers and food supply on May 18, Family Pollinator Day. There is much to learn about these hard-working pollinators. With kid-friendly activities, attendees with learn about the many fruits, vegetables, and nuts, including chocolate and coffee they help bring us.

We will read Beaver at Long Pond by Lindsay Barrett George, take a close-up look at some beaver artifacts, and then take a walk to Rockery Pond to see a beaver lodge, dam, beaver chews, and scent mounds. Find out why beaver teeth are orange and what they use their tails for! We may even try our luck at making our own beaver lodge.
Its time! The cows are heading back out to the pasture for the season. Yay! Its an exciting spectacle as the cows will jump and run with joy as they get to graze for the first time this year.
