Independence Day Celebration in Rockport

Independence Day Celebration in Rockport 2012

Rockport traditionally celebrates Independence Day in style and this Fourth of July won't be any different. Scheduled festivities include the Firemen's Parade, a Legion Band concert, and Rockport's version of a finale - a towering bonfire at Back Beach.

The parade route starts at the school complex on Jerden's Lane and continues down South Street to Dock Square, goes up Main Street to Beach Street and ends at the American Legion bandstand near Back Beach.

The traditional bonfire, built of stacked wooden pallets, will be held at Back Beach after the end of the parade. The fire is usually sparked off by dusk, which arrives at approximately 9 p.m.

The Rockport Firemen's Parade begins at 6pm, followed by a Legion Band Concert and bonfire on Back Beach at about 8:30 p.m.

The Rockport Firemen's Association sponsors the annual Independence Day parade.
