Come paint the sky with the gang from Kites Over New England (www.kone.org). They will be building the classic Eddy Kite, a diamond shaped kite with a six foot tail. Members of Kites Over New England will be demonstrating their single line and stunt kites. Beginner stunt kite pilots are encouraged to try their hands at this fun and challenging sport.
Marblehead Festival of the Arts
It's family fun!!!!! The 2019 Sand Castle Sculpture Event is back this year as Mother Nature is cooperating with a suitable tide schedule at Devereux Beach. All are welcome to bring buckets, shovels and creativity to this cherished Festival family event, open to sand sculptors of all ages. Sign up early at the Festival's registration table at Devereux Beach - it's free - then dig in and create the design of your dreams. Judging and an Awards Ceremony will culminate the competition. The Festival extends its thanks to The Neck Run Cafe for providing delicious frozen treats for Sand Sculpture participants.
Now in its 52nd year, the Marblehead Festival of Arts has had a rich history in producing an annual summer arts Festival over the July 4th holiday week. This premier Festival hosts art exhibits in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Photography, Crafts, Plein aire Painting, Senior Art, Student Art and Youth Art. There's also a lot of great events and activities geared toward keeping kids and families engaged and entertained!
This popular event begins with a workshop where participants construct model boats from kits that are provided, and ends with a regatta at Redd's Pond. Family team participation is encouraged. An adult must accompany all children. After constructing your yacht on the grounds of Lee Mansion Gardens, bring it down to Redd’s Pond for her first sail. As always, last year’s models are welcome at the regatta. This event is part of The Marblehead Festival of Arts.
How wonderful to have kids view the world through a 64-color box of Crayola Crayons instead of an 8-color box, and the Children's Festival is here to help bring out the artist in every child. The Children’s Festival is a unique "hands on" arts-based program of activities directed toward children aged ten years and younger. . All activities are free of charge and all children should be accompanied by an adult.
Come to the Marblehead Street Festival at Bank Square (intersection of Washington and Hopper Street). This festival is a fun tradition that's part of 4th of July celebrations! There will be something for everone including magic, street perfromers, live music, face painting, sidewalk chalk art, henna tattoos, fairy houses, juggling, hula hoops and more.
