You're invited to celebrate the magic of the holidays as the Great House on Castle Hill is festively decorated by area florists and designers for the 'Greening of the Great House'. The Greening of the Great House is a weekend-long event where families will enjoy live music, a dance performance, a children's Eye Spy, refreshments, and more throughout the weekend.

Shapeshifting at PEM After Hours

Peabody Essex Museum will change your perception of Native Art in this exhibit!

The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) celebrates the closing week of Shapeshifting: Transformations in Native American Art with extended evening hours on Thursday, April 26, and Friday April 27. Join us from 5 to 9 pm for your last chance to experience the exhibition that critics are calling “one of the most thrilling shows you are likely to see this year.” Shapeshifting closes to the public on Sunday, April 29, after an exceptional run.

Shapeshifting is a common theme in today's fiction and science fiction, but did you know this theme has been present in Native American art, dance, music and story telling for millennia? Transformation lies at the root of the shapeshifting concept, and Peabody Essex Museum invites you to explore transformation through Native American paintings, ceramics, textiles, photographs, videos and monumental installations drawn from collections in the United States, Canada and Europe!

Shen Yun will perform at the Boston Opera House in January 2012.

Shen Yun is a performing arts company that is dedicated to resurrecting over 5,000 years of Chinese tradition and culture through the performing arts.  Shen Yun presents colorful and exhilarating performances of classical Chinese dance and music. A performance by Shen Yun is a presentation of traditional Chinese culture as it once was: a study in grace, wisdom, and the virtues distilled from the five millennia of Chinese civilization.

Join the Newfoundland Club of New England to continue the Holiday tradition

Join the Newfoundland Club of New England to continue the Holiday tradition of the Christmas Tree Pull at Smolak Farms. The tradition continues this year at Smolak Farms. Each year, families go out into the fields to choose and cut their Christmas tree! The varieties of trees at the Farm include Fraser Fir, Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir and Concolor Fir.

Shen Yun: Traditional Chinese Performing Arts

Learn about the history and performing techniques of Shen Yun at Abbot Library

Join the Abbot Public Library in appreciating traditional Chinese culture through an illustrated talk by members of Shen Yun, the world-renowned Chinese performing arts group. Shen Yun will be coming to Boston, to perform at the Boston Opera House on the weekend of January 20, 21 and 22.  This event is suitable for children aged 10 and older.
