Come to the Cabot theater for a $1 showing of the classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder sponsored by Harbor Sweets Handmade Chocolates. A sweet boy from a poor family dreams of finding one of five golden tickets hidden inside chocolate bar wrappers which will admit him to the eccentric and reclusive Willy Wonka’s magical factory. One after another, tickets are discovered by ghastly children – but will the lad find the last remaining one and have all his dreams come true?
Aaron Nigel Smith is a Grammy® Nominated reggae singer, songwriter, musician, and Billboard #1 recording artist based in Portland, OR. He has performed at events and venues like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Lollapalooza, and Pickathon, and throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He founded FUNdamentals of Music & Movement, a fun approach to music classes for preschool children, which was later scaled to a national program and sold to RockStarts.
For three days, this annual family friendly art festival transforms downtown Salem into an opportunity for the arts community to showcase their talents. The popular free event will feature many artists and performers, and includes a variety of art, music, dance, and theatre performances. The family-friendly festival also includes art-making for all ages, artisan vendors selling their creations, and a temporary public art installation.

Symphony by the Sea presents A Winter Serenade.The string orchestra, with its incredible range and blended sonority, has always enticed composers to explore its exciting possibilities and to compose some of their best music. Mozart’s elegant nighttime serenade (Eine kliene Nachtmusik), Shostakovich’s anguished pleas against war, and Tchaikovsky’s energetic, dance-infused Serenade combine for a memorable afternoon of great music making. *A reception with complimentary refreshments follows this concert.
