Safe Boating Day Event

Come to Glouecster for a FREE boating safety course at the USCG station!

United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester will hold its annual Safe Boating Day Event on Saturday May 18th, to kick off National Safe Boating Week, which is May 18-25. The event is to promote boating safety and awareness.

Foam Frolic Friday in Ipswich

Kids will love Foam Frolic Friday in Ipswich!

The Ipswich Fire Department teams up with the Ipswich Recreation Department to bring you Foam Frolic Friday! Kids are invited to com for a brief safety talk, and will be able to see the pumper that will create a large foam area for kids to play in! Sneakers or water shoes are required for safety reasons and small children should wear goggles to keep foam out of their eyes.

Belaying Class for Parents

Ensure you child's safety while rock climbing by learning how to belay properly.

The La Vida Rock Gym invites parents to learn how to belay! Belaying refers to a variety of techniques used in climbing to exert friction on a climbing rope to ensure the safety of the climber and to ensure that  a falling climber does not fall very far. If you have a child interested in rock climbing and find yourself nervously watching as your child climbs, take this course!  It will enable you to become the belayer and you will be able to identify unsafe belaying proceedures when somebody else is holding the rope!

Personal Safety For Kids

This workshop is designed to empower your child by encouraging awareness

The purpose of this program is to make children aware of the potential dangers in the world around them: strangers, persons they know, the internet, etc. Through the presentation of safety tips by trained law enforcement officers, students will become more aware of their personal safety, know when their safety has been compromised and where to reach out for help. Concluding the presentation, students will have the opportunity to tour the police department. Parent participation is encouraged.
