Art in the Shipyard!

Kids will create art at the Essex Shipbuilding Musem each Wednesday afternoon!

See, learn, find, create! Young artists are invited to enjoy drawing, painting, print making, and sculpture using the Museum's shipyard and artifacts for inspiration. All materials are provided for projects. All ages are welcome. Those seven and younger must be accompanied by an adult. A public exhibit of the art work produced will take place at the museum. This program is supported in part by the Essex Cultural Council, a local agency, through the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. For more information and to reserve a spot email or call.

April Vacation at PEM 2013

PEM has a great lineup for kids and families during April Vacation 2013!

Looking for stuff to do during April Vacation on the North Shore? Peabody Essex Museum has a fabulous line-up of fun activities, performances and tours for kids and families. Explore movement and sound through the Nick Cave exhibit, art and textile activities, story times, gallery tours and live performances! Come to PEM to create memorable family experiences that will keep minds engaged and hands busy during school break!

Robopalooza at CMNH

Come see Robots made by kids and teens at the Children's Museum of NH!

Robotics programs and teams from all over the Seacoast will converge on the Children's Museum of New Hampshire for an afternoon of fun with robots. See local FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition robots in action along with SeaPerch underwater remote operated vehicles. Robotics programs like these offer an exciting blend of tech education and innovation. If you've never seen these student-built robots before, now is your big chance to check it out.

Eco Games Free-for-All: Sustaining the Sea

Is your Tuna farmed or wild and what's the difference? Find out at Joppa Flats!

We know how important it is to be "green," but how do we apply that to the way we live on the New England coast? Come to Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats for a full day of activities all about ocean creatures like whales, sea turtles & fish! We’ll learn about ocean sustainability and seashore conservation with fun, informative games like mini sporting events, quiz competitions, model building, and art projects for all ages!

Imagine, Sing & Learn 3A: All About Owls

Pre-Schoolers will learn all about owls at Joppa Flats Education Center!

Preschoolers are welcome to come learn about owls! This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, outdoor exploration, and a thematic snack. When it's time to go home, you'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via e-mail.

Legos and Tea

LEGOs and Tea at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum!

Take a break! Relax with a cup of tea or coffee while the kids play with Legos, drawing and coloring materials, or other games in the Museum's Orientation Center (front building). No charge. Bad weather - heavy snow, bad driving conditions - cancels.

Story Trails at PEM: When Books Fly

This Story Trails is about "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore"

Come to Peabody Essex Museum and stop by for an interactive reading of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore , followed by a showing of a short animated film based on the story. Afterwards, kids will learn how to create an animated flip book by making their own to take home!

Circus Kids Intoductory Class

Your child can try circus performing skill in this FREE introductory class!

Kids ages 5-17 are invited to come try out their circus skills at a FREE introductory class! Kids classes are designed to be fun and give kids a chance to try a bunch of different circus arts in one class, with a mix of balance equipment (stilts, tight wire), and manipulation (juggling, hula hoops, circus acrobatics, clowning skills, Aerial Silks & Trapeze. You must call to reserve a spot!
