It’s Base Ball, 1861 style at Spencer Peirce Little Farm! These fun, historically accurate games feature underhand pitching and no gloves are allowed. A ball bounced once and caught is an out! Snacks, baseballs, and cards are available for purchase. Come and see for yourself how this game was played in the 1860's.

Take a step back in time and enjoy a spring day on the farm. Enjoy traditional New England music, sheep-shearing, and wagon rides and cheer on your favorite teams of the Essex Base Ball Association as they play using 1860s rules. At these fun, historically accurate games, players pitch underhand, a ball bounced once and caught is an out, and no gloves are allowed.

ESSEX COUNTY TRAIL ASSOCIATION is hosting the 24th annual EQUINE EXPO to be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 9-3 in the Arena Building at the Topsfield Fairgrounds on Route 1, Topsfield, MA.  This popular event draws over 800 people each year.  Individuals, groups & businesses make up over 80 booths offering goods and services, new and used, for the horse and rider/driver. Join the Essex Base Ball Organization on October 13, 2018, as members of the vintage base ball community will be participating in the 5th annual Jan’s Pitch for Breast Cancer and the Arts, to raise money for cancer research and to fund art education in inner city schools in Lawrence, MA. Three games will take place at the beautiful Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, featuring teams from all over New England and beyond.

The famous Lipizzan stallions are returning to perform three shows at Cogswell's Grant. The horses of the Herrmann line are among the last capable of executing the "Airs Above the Ground" maneuvers, the dramatic leaps and plunges developed as aggressive battle maneuvers in the sixteenth century, and now a beautiful display of equine grace and strength.

The Escape from Boston Revolutionary War Reenactment is a weekend encampment and battle scenario that plays out this “what-if” scenario that might have changed the course of the American Revolution. Meet Revolutionary War soldiers from both sides of the conflict. Members of the Continental Line and His Majesty's First Regiment of Foot Guards re-enact a retreat from Boston with cannon, cavalry, and drills throughout the day. Come watch the colonial forces battle with the British Redcoats at the Escape from Boston Revolutionary War Reenactment to determine our destiny as a nation.
