Free Asthma Screening

A free asthma screening will be conducted by Dr. Christine Palumbo and nurse practitioner Dianne Redican, certified asthma educator, with Asthma & Allergy Affiliates of Danvers. A free foot screening will be provided by podiatrist Dr. Deepa Jhaveri of Podiatry Center, Beverly Hospital at Danvers. The foot screening will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. There will be a wealth of senior health information available as well as refreshments and giveaways. Red Cross Babysitting Certificate Course at Hamilton Wenham Library

Hamilton-Wenham Public Library invites kids aged 11 older to a course designed by the American Red Cross to prepare youth with the training every parent wants in a babysitter: safety, basic child care, safe play, first aid and critical emergency skills, and professional leadership and care-giving skills.

Green Meadows Farm invites is hosting a Road Race put on by the NFMA.

Green Meadows Farm is hosting a road/trail race put on by the National Farmers Market Association. Highlights of this event will include a 1 mile race, a fun run and 5k trail/road race. This is not just a race, though. There's plenty of fun stuff to do at the farm that make this a day long celebration for family and friends of the runners with educational demos, music, children activities, celebrity chefs from the greater Boston area, farmers market and the local craft brewer community.

Learn CPR at Sawyer Free Library

Do you know CPR? You can learn the techniques at Sawyer Free Library!

In this course by Family & Friends CPR, you will learn how to properly identify and care for breathing, choking, and cardiac emergencies with infants, children and adults. Infant and child CPR is indispensable for parents, babysitters, teachers, program staff, and anyone else who is in frequent contact with infants and small children. This is a non-certified course and is intended for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a completion card or other certification.

Fast Chicks 5k

The Fast Chicks 5k raises funds for local families & celebrates active women!

The Fast Chicks 5k is a community fundraiser race that celebrates active women and raises funds for a selected charity each year.  There's also a FREE kids race - a 100 yard dash! Now in it's second year, the race begins and ends at Patton park and funds raise this year will go to the Community Giving Tree, a North Shore organization based in Boxford that provides gently used children’s clothes, equipment, and basic necessities for families in need.

Beantown Jumpers Double Dutch Jump Rope Demonstration Team

The Manchester Public Library Presents: The Beantown Jumpers Double Dutch Team! This demonstration event is a lot of energetic fun for everyone! The team will perform a “Fusion” music presentation and then they will demonstrate the jumping styles necessary for competitions, including speed (2 minutes), compulsory (25 second dance routine) and a free-style (tricks) routine (1 minute).  After the presentation, group participation with the team is encouraged. Audience members will learn how to jump in, turn the ropes and some jump rope tricks!

The Happy as a Clam Road Race invites children and families to race in Essex

The Happy as a Clam 5k, Family Fun Run & Wellness Fair is a yearly event that's filled with fun for both kids and adults. There will be a 5k road race and a 1 mile family fun run. Whole families are encouraged to do the fun run. There will be medals given to all children under 12 yrs. old and there will be family prizes as well.

The Cape Ann Relay for Life will be at Gloucester High School - Newell Stadium

 

The Cape Ann Relay for Life is a community event that raises funds funds for the American Cancer Society and creates an opportunity to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember lost loved ones, and fight back against the disease.  The 2013 Relay will take place at Newell Stadium at the Gloucester High School .

The Brain Balance Achievement Center of Danvers is proud to host a free workshop at the Danvers center featuring Brain Balance founder Dr. Steven Bromberg. The workshop provides drug-free solutions for families that have children suffering with social, behavior and academic difficulties such as with ADHD, Learning Differences and Autism Spectrum Disorders. This workshop is not to be missed as Dr. Bromberg will provide parents with real activities they can do at home to help their children and immediately see changes.
