Joppa Flats will have Free indoor and outdoor activities for kids and families!

Joppa Flats Education Center invites families to join them for a full day of free outdoor and indoor nature activities, art projects, and live insects! July is the time to see such winged wonders as American ladies, swallowtails, monarchs, skippers, and more. At Joppa Flats, you'll see wild butterflies and captive caterpillars, learn about environmentally friendly products and practices for the home and garden, enjoy a guided nature walk on the grounds, and take home a fun craft or two.

Olde Fashioned Sunday in Downtown Newburyport will be a great day to remember the beginnings of our Yankee Homecoming celebrations. We can enjoy some “new” events so as to make future memories for the current younger generations as the past has given some of us the “good ole’ days” to remember. Olde Fashioned Sunday 2018 begins on the stage with the opportunity to show the audience your favorite pets. Every person and pet is a winner in this event. The formal opening of Yankee Homecoming will include the introduction of all the past chairperson and the singing of the national anthem.

Father's Day Bluegrass Bash

Join the The Trustees of Reservations and get outside with your family this Father’s Day and celebrate Dad at the Father’s Day Bluegrass Bash at The Stevens-Coolidge Place. There will be a bluegrass band Mamma's Marmalade for all to enjoy from 5-7PM. Classic summer selections like BBQ, coleslaw and watermelon from Bedlam Farms BBQ Company and sweet treats from Kim Gregory | Pure Pastry will also be available for purchase to complete the perfect Father’s Day experience. Lawn games will be set up around the grounds, bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and make this the best Father’s Day ever!

Mothers Day Duckling Day Parade at Boston Public Garden

The beloved annual Duckling Day Parade has become Boston’s most adorable Mother’s Day tradition, and that’s no lie. Children (and sometimes parents too) don duckling attire and retrace the route taken by Mama Mallard in by Robert McCloskey.

The Friends of the Public Garden, in association with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department, will celebrate Mother’s Day with Boston-area families during its annual Duckling Day on Sunday, May 12th.

Kids in grades k-5 who have an interest in chess are invited to come to the Salem Public Library to play chess with other enthusiasts of the game! Novice players are welcome and there are no instructors present. This two hour session is designed to provide a friendly environment for kids to test their skills against other opponents! Play ocean-themed games and create seaworthy art. Find out where our seafood comes from, how people can collect energy from the ocean, and how to protect our oceans and coastline as they show signs of climate change. Family presentations will be offered at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
