Cambridge Science Festival 2013

NOTE: Due to the events of the massive manhunt in the Cambridge Area and shooting of an MIT police office over the past few days, all events and activities for the Cambridge Science Festival have bee postponed for Friday April, 19 and Saturday April 20, 2013!

The Cambridge Science Festival is the first of its kind in the United States. It is a fun and enagaging celebration showcasing  the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, and math in our region. The Cambridge Science Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun with hundreds of events taking place in and around Cambridge, MA each spring.  For ten days, Cambridge will come alive with science and offer exhibits, activities, fairs, demonstrations, lectures, debates, concerts, plays, workshops and all kinds of interactive events for kids, families and curious individuals!

PEM invites families to celebrate Indian culture at Sensational India Festival!

Peabody Essex Museum celebrates an unparalleled 200-year legacy of cultural exchange with India through the 'Sensational India!' Festival! This year's festival celebrates the creativity and dynamism of contemporary India during this annual weekend-long festival. We'll present pioneering artists, electrifying performances, provocative ideas and creative family-friendly experiences. Inspired by the modern and contemporary Indian art in Midnight to the Boom, explore today's India through dance, food, musical performances, visual art and storytelling.

Felts & Fibers: A Wool Festival at PEM

Peabody Celebrates wool and the things we make from it in a weekend festival!

Peabody Essex Museum celebrates the world of wool and the products that are created from this raw material in a weekend-long festival! There have been many uses for wool throughout history and across cultures dating back as far as 6000 B.C.E. Wool is made from the hair or fleece of certain animals such as sheep, goats, llamas - and even rabbits! Come explore where wool comes from as part of PEM's ongoing Art Materials and Creative Experience program.

Salem Film Fest kicks off with 5-Minute High School Documentary Contest awards presentation on Thursday, March 7, 7:00 PM at Cinema Salem. Entering its fifth year, the high school competition is a fun way to celebrate the innovation and skill of aspiring filmmakers currently enrolled in 9th—12th grade at a Massachusetts high school.

26th Annual Sheep Shearing Festival

Gore Place Sheep Shearing Festival Waltham MA for North Shore Children Families

Back in the day of sophisticated New England, folks wove their own scarves and knitted hats, gloves and sweaters from real wool shorn from bleating sheep by "Renaissance men" like Kevin Ford and Andy Rice. That vanished era of self-reliance will return Saturday, April 27 to Gore Place for the 26th annual Sheep Shearing Festival when visitors can learn some everyday skills that flourished when the Federal-style mansion was built in 1806.

The Inventgenuity Festival will be loaded with a tremendous range of activities

Boston’s third annual Inventgenuity Festival is presented by Beam Camp, a New Hampshire summer camp for the applied arts, technology and collaboration. The weekend Festival will be loaded with a tremendous range of activities led by Beam’s staff of artists, engineers and big thinkers. The Inventgenuity Festival has become a popular annual winter celebration of making things for kids ages 7-14 and their parents.

The Merrimack River Eagle Festival - Canceled

Come celebrate the return of the Eagles to the Merrimack Estuary!

UPDATE: The Eagle Festival is Cancelled because of the snow! Come to Newburyport to celebrate the return of migrating eagles back to the Merrimack River Estuary! The Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats Education Center and the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge have teamed up to bring an entire day of free events centered around the wonders of the Bald Eagles that have come to take seasonal advantage of the Merrimack River habitat.
