Eliza Goddell will be offering a Ukranian Easter egg (aka Pysanky) workshop. You will learn how to make beautiful eggs using a stylus, beeswax, and dyes. The workshop will begin with a demo and a brief discussion of the symbols used in this ancient Ukrainian folk art. Beginners are welcome. No artistic talent is necessary! For ages 12 and up.
Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week workshop on microphotography - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What does a penny look like under a microscope? What about grains of sand? Take a closer look with microphotography! Using our digital microscope lab, children will get to view and photograph various natural and manmade objects using video microscopes.
Boston’s third annual Inventgenuity Festival is presented by Beam Camp, a New Hampshire summer camp for the applied arts, technology and collaboration. The weekend Festival will be loaded with a tremendous range of activities led by Beam’s staff of artists, engineers and big thinkers. The Inventgenuity Festival has become a popular annual winter celebration of making things for kids ages 7-14 and their parents.

What can fossils teach us about prehistoric sea life and ancient oceans? What is paleontology? Children will examine three prehistoric eras and discover prehistoric creatures such as spiny trilobites, whale-sized fishes, and ferocious marine reptiles.

Did you know that some squid glow in the dark, cuttlefish communicate through color, and that a certain octopus can mimic a variety of sea creatures? Children will investigate the cephalopods, a group of intelligent mollusks that includes the octopus, squid, nautilus, and cuttlefish.

Internationally renowned Whale Specialist and Educator, Cynde McInnis, introduces us to her 43 foot inflatable Humpback Whale Nile, and teaches us all about the beloved marine mammal.
