Fairy House Building Workshop

Kids will learn to build fairy houses with natural materials at Lynch Park, Beve

Come to a fun filled workshop hosted by the Beverly Recreation Department! Building a fairy house is a great way for kids to be creative and learn about preserving our planet. Use twigs, rocks, shells, mulch, sand, pinecones, moss, clay and more. Children encouraged to dress like fairies! Materials included. A photographer may take pictures for parents (extra fee for pictures). Instructor: Gigi Sisman-Thomson.

Friday Night Movie Night!

Kids will enjoy 'A Turtles Tale' at the Manchetser Athletic Club!

This week's movie FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE NIGHT at Manchester Athletic Club will feature A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures . Drop off the kids (ages 3 - 13 years old) for a night at the movies with pizza and juice served for dinner. Go enjoy some free time while the kids have a blast together, and pick them up tired and ready for a good night's sleep!

Kid's Night Out (KNO) is back at the YWCA Greater Newburyport.

Kid's Night Out (KNO) is back at the YWCA Greater Newburyport.  Parents, relax and enjoy a well deserved night out (or in) while our highly qualified YWCA staff watch over your little munchkins (children in grades 1-3).  Their evewning at the YWCA Greater Newburyport starts with pizza, music, and activities.  Then it is on to the pool for an open swim and the evening ends with a short video.

PMC Marblehead Kids Ride

Kids are encouraged to ride their bikes to raise money for the Pan Mass Challeng

The Pan-Mass Challenge Marblehead Kids Ride will be one of 35 PMC Kids Rides held in neighborhoods throughout New England and beyond. Through the PMC Kids Rides program, nearly 6,000 cyclists between the ages of two and 15 will ride between one and 26 miles in mini-bike-a-thons to raise money for cancer research.

Calling all dads! bring your kids to Sawyer Free for a Saturday morning story!

This is a great opportunity for dads (uncles, grandfathers, cousins or other father figures) to spend tuime with their kids! Come to the Sawyer Free with the kids for a storytime filled with songs, stories,snacks and fun!  Great for kids aged 2-6.

Kayak Family Paddle on Plum Island Sound

Kayaking basics are taught along with this family kayak exploration at Joppa

Late spring is a great time to experience on-the-water ecology, and kayaking is the perfect way to capture every moment. From wading birds to waterfowl, the salt marshes provide the backdrop to sights and sounds that are uniquely available from the water. Kayaking quietly on the calm waters of the Plum Island Sound, we'll visit secluded areas where we can witness wildlife without disturbing their activities. We may even see horseshoe crabs mating!

Join watercolorist Brenda Sloane in a monthly program that combines nature and art. We will start with a walk on the sanctuary to observe the topic of the month. We will then return to the Nature Center to create a follow-up work of art.

Family Day at the Bird Banding Station

Family Day at the Banding Station will teach you about bird identification.

Come for an exciting visit to the Joppa Flats Bird Banding Station on the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. See Mass Audubon scientists capture, measure, weigh, examine, and release migrant songbirds. Learn about migration, habitat use, and scientific research at a real field station. The station operates only during the height of migration in spring (April and May) and fall (September and October).

Manga Workshop at Ipswich Library

kids 12 and up can learn about drawing, story telling and creating comics.

Ipswich Public Library is hosting a Manga Workshop with Andy & Veronica Fish. Manga is a form of Japanese story telling created in the late 18th century, that has transformed into a style of comic art. Learn about Comics, draw characters, learn about story-telling or how to make your own! Event is free and open to teens ages 12 and up. Reservation required.
